Welcome to Beck Primary School

Our website creates an opportunity for us to share and celebrate the achievements of our pupils. To find out more about our school please take time to browse our different sections and click on the relevant links. We hope you find them informative and useful.

Headteacher's Welcome

We aim to provide a stable and secure learning environment in which each child can develop fully, both socially and intellectually. You can help us to achieve this by supporting the school and encouraging your child to have a positive attitude. Our Home/School Agreement is a contract between the home and school. Parents agree to support the school and the school agrees to provide a good standard of education.

There are termly parents' meetings and you are always welcome to visit the school. If you wish to discuss any aspect of your child's education or development, please do not hesitate to contact us. Some children are apprehensive when they start at their new school; if your child shows signs of anxiety, please don't wait until a parents' evening before telling us. Often a telephone call or informal chat with a member of staff can be beneficial in helping us to arrange some pastoral support.

Beck is a popular school with a large school population; the staff are caring and respectful of others. Our aim is to ensure that everyone feels valued. Beck is part of the Excellence in Cities programme and we have a full time learning mentor and learning support worker who is able to lend pastoral support to pupils.

We are always delighted to see parents in school and we encourage parents to share in the learning process. You can expect to be invited to participate in educational visits and to join in with parent workshops. We'll do our best to keep you regularly informed by means of our newsletter "Beck News".

Voluntary helpers are made welcome in school and they enrich the experiences we are able to offer our children. Voluntary helpers may be parents, grandparents or people in the broader school community who enjoy working with young people.

Safety of children is one of our highest priorities. We check all volunteers and staff who have unsupervised access to our children.

All the staff extend a very warm welcome and look forward to meeting you.

Peter Hardwick.
