During the first term the children’s learning will focus on geography as they learn about the similarities and differences between different parts of the world that we live in.The children will visit Edensor Village in Derbyshire, to enable them to compare the human and physical features of the village to Shiregreen and Mugarameno in Zambia!
Spring Term: What does it mean to be alive?
During their second term in Year 1, the children will learn about living things and what makes something a living creature. This term the learning will focus on science as they learn about a what it means to be alive and what living things need. They will also be learning about different plants and animals and how we use our senses.
Summer Term: What happened once upon a time?
In the final part of the year, children will enjoy learning about medieval times. They will have first-hand experience of looking at artefacts from the medieval times before showcasing and celebrating their learning with a spectacular banquet. They will even design and make their own castle after visiting a real castle in Conisbrough!
