About Us

Welcome to Beck – a big school with a big heart and big ambitions! We are committed to ensuring that every child enjoys exceptional and memorable experiences and develops the skills, knowledge and attributes they will need in later life.

Beck Primary is a large primary school in north Sheffield. There are three classes in each year group from Foundation Stage 2 (Reception) to Year 6 as well as a large 3-year-old nursery and a 2-year-old nursery called Little Beck. In addition, the school hosts the Beck Burrow, part of Cascade Multi-Academy Trust’s Integrated Resource for children with an Education Health Care Plan for social communication needs.

The school was built in the 1930s to serve the Shiregreen estate – one of the council estates built to house families moving out of the industrial areas of the city. The original school building has grown and developed over time to accommodate increasing numbers of children. All classes are now arranged in the main school building with a separate nursery building. The school works closely with the Shiregreen Neighbourhood Centre which shares the site.

Beck is fortunate to have lots of space. There is a very large field which is used for sports and lunchtime play as well as ‘Muddy Mondays’ for our nursery children. There are playgrounds all around the building and two internal quadrangles which provide a safe outdoor classroom for our Foundation Stage 2 children and a garden where we grow vegetables.

The staff team at Beck are committed to providing the best possible education for those attending Beck. Each class has a teacher and teaching assistant and there are additional teaching staff who support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). A number of staff also support children pastorally providing mental health and well-being support.

At Beck we all follow our Core Values – Aim High – Be Respectful – Be Safe – Be Enthusiastic – Be Honest – Be Team Players – Have Your Say.
