Computing

The computing curriculum has been planned to allow pupils to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to use a range of technology both discretely and across the curriculum. The computing curriculum starts in EYFS where children have a range of equipment in the continuous provision so that pupils feel confident to access different technology. The curriculum then builds in both skills and knowledge to Y6 where pupils leave ready for secondary school.

The Beck computing curriculum has been formed using aspects from the NCCE Scheme of Work and cross curricular links to ensure pupils receive a purposeful, varied and exciting curriculum with ambitious outcomes. The online safety curriculum has been planned to provide children with the important skills and knowledge to safely access a range of technology from EYFS. This is linked to our PSHE curriculum and includes half termly assemblies as well as being an integral part of every computing lesson.

Our end goal is that pupils are confidently, safely and independently able to access a range of technology. Pupils will be able to use the correct computing terminology and develop a range of skills including presenting information in a range of ways, internet use and coding. They will understand when it is appropriate to use ICT equipment and how this can make life easier and support learning. Children will be ready to access computing learning at secondary school and be prepared for the jobs of tomorrow.

“Our end goal is that pupils are confidently, safely and independently able to access a range of technology.“
