Autumn Term: How has water shaped Sheffield?

During the first term the children’s learning will focus on both geography and science, as children learn about different states of matter, the water cycle and rivers. They will look specifically at rivers in Sheffield and visit the Shepherd Wheel to learn how water had a huge impact on the Industrial Revolution in Sheffield.

Spring Term: Why does it matter what we eat?

During their second term in Year 3 the children will gain an awareness of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle for humans. They will use this knowledge to design and make their own healthy pizza for their parents! The children will also learn about the human skeleton, as well as the life-cycle of plants and animals.

Summer Term: What does it mean to survive and thrive?

In the final part of the year, the children will enjoy learning about how our earliest ancestors survived during the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages. They will then celebrate their learning with a fashion show at the end of the summer term. They will design their own clothes, learn to sew, and decorate the clothes too. In this term they are also fortunate enough to have an overnight stay at Whirlow Hall Farm, as well as a visit to Creswell Crags to immerse themselves in everything Stone Age!
